TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Teco is expanding into electric bus and drone propulsion systems, unveiling new motor technology at the Taipei International Auto Parts and Accessories Show this week.
Teco said its T Power Pro 400 kW flat-wire oil-cooled direct-drive motor has attracted interest from domestic bus operators, per CNA. The system is designed for 7-12 meter buses and vehicles under 18.5 tons, with testing expected in the second half of this year.
Mass production of the motor is scheduled for the first half of 2027, according to the company. It is also developing use cases for intercity electric buses, including 12-meter models.
In parallel, Teco CEO Kao Fei-yuan (高飛鳶) said the company is building out drone propulsion capabilities at its Zhongli plant in Taoyuan. The company is developing systems for commercial and agricultural drones used in firefighting, solar panel cleaning, and crop spraying.
Teco electromechanical systems division head Wang Jung-pang (王榮邦) said small reconnaissance drone propulsion systems have reached mass-production readiness, per Liberty Times. He said once new production lines are completed by year-end, annual output could reach 500,000 to 700,000 units.
Agricultural drone propulsion capacity is expected to reach 40,000 to 60,000 units annually. Pilot production is underway, with rollout planned for the second half of the year.
Teco is also working with European partners on integrated e-axle systems. Prototype vehicles are expected in the second half of the year, as automakers in Taiwan, Europe, and Mexico explore adoption.
