TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines signed two memorandums of understanding in Manila on Sunday as it inaugurated its new leadership and marked its 38th anniversary.
Yang Hung-yu (楊鴻裕) was re-elected chair, with vice chairpersons including Lin Wen-chieh (林文傑), Tseng Chien-chun (曾建鈞), Lin Jen-pao (林任保), Li Tsung-i (李宗義), Chu Mao-wei (朱茂瑋), and Cheng Chih-hao (鄭之昊), per CNA. Shih Chao-chang (施昭彰) was named secretary-general.
Yang said the chamber aims to strengthen resilience and unity amid global economic uncertainty. He added that the group will promote information sharing and joint responses to global challenges.
He also said the chamber would encourage greater participation from younger members, with the goal of fostering innovation and international perspectives.
Philippine Representative to Taiwan Corazon A. Padiernos said the chamber has long been an important bridge between Taiwan and the Philippines. She said she hopes the new leadership will continue to deepen relations.
At the event, the chamber signed separate MOUs with the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and the National Association of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The agreements aim to enhance resource sharing and business opportunities among Taiwan, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines was founded in 1988, with Chien Yu-li (簡宇立) as its founding chair.
