TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Federal Security Commission said Thursday it has taken down more than 107,000 scam-related ads over the past three years using AI tools to combat online fraud.
The agency said it has deployed AI systems and strengthened coordination with agencies to tackle scams at the source, per CNA. It directed the Taiwan Stock Exchange and industry groups to identify and remove fraudulent ads in real time.
Separately, over 70,000 additional ads were taken down between September 2024 and March through the Ministry of Digital Affairs’ reporting platform. These removals were based on reports submitted by the public.
FSC Securities and Futures Bureau Director General Wang Hsiu-ling (王秀玲) said scammers often impersonate celebrities or financial institutions. They use tactics such as free books, investment tips, or giveaways to lure victims, she explained.
Wang urged investors to verify information before making decisions. She also advised the public to call the National Police Agency’s anti-fraud hotline 165 if they suspect a scam.
