TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chen Nien-chin (陳念琴) won gold on Thursday in the women’s 65 kg division at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships in Mongolia.
The top seed entered the tournament with a first-round bye, per Liberty Times. She opened with a dominant 5-0 victory over Thailand’s Porntip Buapa in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Chen defeated India’s Ankushita Boro 3-0 despite a disruption caused by a power outage. Her composed performance secured a place in the final.
Facing North Korea’s Hwang Hyo-sun in the title bout, Chen was put on the defensive early by her opponent’s aggressive approach. She adjusted her rhythm in the second round and began to regain control.
The final round remained tightly contested as both fighters exchanged blows. Chen’s superior technique and accuracy secured a 4-1 victory and the gold medal.
The victory marked Chen’s second Asian Championships gold. She previously won gold in 2022 and silver in 2019.
