TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Inventec posted Wednesday a March revenue of NT$87.56 billion (US$2.75 billion), up 71.9% month-on-month and 41.7% year-on-year.
Q1 revenue reached NT$200.31 billion, rising 16.9% from the previous quarter and 27.6% from a year earlier, both record highs, per Liberty Times. The company said strong demand for AI server infrastructure drove the gains and expects momentum to continue.
Inventec shipped 2.2 million laptops in March, up 46.6% from February and 15.8% from a year earlier, per CNA. Q1 shipments totaled 5.4 million units, increasing 1.9% quarter-on-quarter and 8% year-on-year.
The company said the surge was partly due to customers stocking up ahead of rising memory prices. However, some demand was pulled forward, and laptop shipments in the second quarter are expected to remain roughly flat. It added that smart device demand will stay in a seasonal lull in the first half of the year.
Inventec said AI server shipments are expected to grow at a double-digit rate in the second quarter. Growth is likely to accelerate further in the third and fourth quarters, which are seen as key drivers this year.
However, rising memory prices and potential capacity constraints from strong server demand could weigh on the laptop segment in the second half. The company said it will monitor the situation, though clients have not yet signaled major concerns.
