TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Immigration Agency has barred Chinese influencer Yang Yue from returning to Taiwan after she filmed videos promoting the “one China” principle during a recent visit.
The influencer, who goes by the handle “Dada” and has 2.3 million followers on Douyin, entered Taiwan from Thailand in late March and shot travel videos during her stay, per Liberty Times. In the clips, she repeatedly referred to “Taiwan, China” while speaking to staff and locals, and when a store clerk asked if she had a mobile barcode, she said she did not understand.
Yang then added, “I’m not a foreigner, I’m Chinese,” and shouted, “We’re all together, mainland and Taiwan, right?” The clerk, unaware of her intent, politely explained that the mobile barcode can be used to store receipts digitally for Taiwan’s receipt lottery.
Netizens pointed out that in previous videos, Dada had consistently told locals that Taiwan is part of China while traveling abroad. The posts sparked heated discussion on Threads, with many questioning why the NIA had allowed an influencer who regularly promotes Taiwan as part of China to enter the country.
The NIA said Dada entered Taiwan on a short-term professional exchange visa approved by the relevant authorities and stayed for one week. After reviewing her videos, which it said violated the principle of mutual respect, the agency said it has barred her from entering in the future.
