TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi (陳明祺) called for closer cooperation in unmanned systems with the US during a meeting with a maritime drone industry delegation on Wednesday.
The delegation was organized by the US-based United Pacific Innovation Alliance, per the foreign ministry.
Chen said close industrial cooperation facilitates shared economic prosperity and contributes to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. He welcomed the UPIA delegation’s visit as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral drone cooperation.
Chen said Taiwan-US economic and security partnerships have continued to deepen in recent years. The two countries are also key partners in building resilient and competitive supply chains, he said.
The foreign ministry said the visit provides strong momentum for Taiwan and the US to develop unmanned systems and non-red supply chains.
UPIA founder Eric Du said the delegation’s visit aims to understand Taiwan’s industrial needs, share technological expertise, and bolster cooperation with local companies. He expressed hope for closer integration and better-aligned supply chain partnerships.
The foreign ministry said Taiwan would continue to deepen its partnership with the US across various sectors to maintain regional peace and prosperity.
