TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail said Wednesday it will add 30 extra train services for the Mother’s Day travel period, with tickets available from Friday.
The additional services will run from May 8 to 11 to meet higher passenger demand. A total of 708 train services will operate during the four-day period, per Economic Daily News.
CNA reported that tickets for all services will open for booking at midnight on Friday. Travelers are advised to book early to secure seats during peak travel times.
THSR will also offer early bird discounts on select trains departing before 8 a.m. during the travel period. Discounted tickets are limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, per Newtalk.
To encourage students to return home, eight additional trains will offer 50% discounts to university students. These services will run on May 8 and May 11.
The company said some trains will increase the number of non-reserved seating cars to nine during busy periods. This will mainly apply to services between Nangang and Taichung, per TTV News.
THSR reminded passengers using discounted tickets to carry valid identification. Those without proper documents may face penalties or be required to pay the full fare.
