TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) on Tuesday led a delegation to Vietnam for a five-day trip. The visit aims to attract investment and strengthen economic ties with Southeast Asia.
Yunlin County Government said the trip focuses on promoting the county as an investment destination. It also aims to encourage Taiwanese businesses in Southeast Asia to return and set up operations.
Officials said the delegation will meet with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam and Taiwanese business associations. They will also meet key enterprises to understand regional supply chain trends better.
CNA reported that the county government will host an investment forum in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday. The event will introduce Yunlin’s industrial environment, policy incentives, and development potential.
Chang said Yunlin is advancing a “9+1 industrial park” development plan covering sectors such as smart machinery, green energy, cold chain logistics, and value-added aquaculture. She said the initiative aims to build a complete and competitive industrial ecosystem to support long-term business growth, per Economic Daily News.
Chang said Yunlin offers three key advantages for investors: a stable water supply, reliable green energy, and a skilled workforce trained by local universities. She said these conditions allow companies to operate efficiently and support sustainable expansion, Nownews reported.
Officials also highlighted the role of Mailiao Port, saying it connects Yunlin to international shipping routes, reduces logistics costs, and improves export efficiency. They said the port supports global market access, making it important for companies expanding overseas, per ETToday.
In addition to promoting investment, the delegation will exchange views with Vietnamese partners on urban development, infrastructure projects, and disaster prevention. Officials said the experience will help guide future policy and strengthen Yunlin’s overall competitiveness.
“Southeast Asia continues to grow rapidly and remains an important base for Taiwanese businesses,” Chang said. She added that Yunlin welcomes investment during this key stage of transformation.
