TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) is leading a trade delegation to diplomatic ally the Marshall Islands, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.
The ministry said he is serving as special envoy for President Lai Ching-te (賴清德). Lin was accompanied on the April 7-9 trip by officials from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the International Cooperation and Development Fund, and MOFA’s drone diplomacy task force.
Lin’s delegation also included more than 60 representatives from the fisheries, transportation, health equipment, food processing, clean energy, and telecom sectors. The ministry said investment meetings will build on the bilateral Economic Cooperation Agreement concluded on Jan. 15, 2025.
Lin’s itinerary includes meetings with President Hilda Heine, Speaker of the Legislature Brenson Wase, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kalani Kaneko, and traditional local leaders. He will also visit the Majuro Track and Field Stadium, the Majuro Hospital Long-Distance Health Center, and a chicken farm, all projects resulting from Taiwan assistance.
