TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – State-run energy group CPC Corp., Taiwan, said Saturday that gasoline and diesel prices would not change after the weekend, giving motorists a respite after several weeks of rises in the wake of the Iran War.
Retail prices will remain NT$32.4 (US$1.01), NT$33.9, and NT$35.9 for 92-, 95-, and 98-octane unleaded gasoline. Premium diesel will still cost NT$31 per liter until the end of April 12, per CNA.
International oil prices over the past week were high, but had not markedly increased over the previous week, allowing prices at the pump to remain stable for next week.
Under the government’s dual stabilization program for fuel prices, CPC will have absorbed NT$9.06 billion in oil price rises from the start of the Iran War on Feb. 28 until Sunday, company officials said. The policy emphasized price stability to reduce the impact of energy price fluctuations on the public’s living conditions and on business operations.
