TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Oceania Cruises has unveiled the inaugural season of itineraries for its newest ship, Oceania Sonata, while also announcing plans to expand its next-generation fleet with a fifth Sonata Class vessel.
Oceania Sonata accommodates 1,390 guests and is set to debut in August 2027. The ship will operate 22 voyages through April 2028, visiting more than 90 destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, and the Americas.
The launch of Oceania Sonata marks an exciting new chapter for the luxury cruise line, with itineraries designed to emphasize longer port stays, overnight visits, and a mix of major cities and lesser-known destinations.
The itineraries range from seven to 16 days and are designed to highlight deeper destination immersion. Reservations are now open and available to book online at the Oceania Cruises website.

A Mediterranean beginning steeped in history and beauty
Oceania Sonata’s maiden voyage begins in Rome (Civitavecchia). From there, the 14-day journey travels through the Mediterranean before arriving in Trieste.
Guests can visit Valletta, Malta, savor Sicilian flavors in Catania, and explore Greece, with stops in Katakolon, Heraklion, and Paros. Evenings in ports like Mykonos and Corfu offer the chance to linger longer and enjoy the nighttime buzz of these vibrant destinations.
Subsequent sailings continue this blend of iconic and lesser-known destinations. A late summer voyage from Barcelona to London traces the Atlantic edge of Europe, from Spain to Bordeaux. Meanwhile, a shorter Athens to Istanbul itinerary offers a more concentrated journey through the Aegean.
With overnight stays in select ports, Oceania Sonata offers guests more time to explore and connect with each destination.

Crossing oceans in effortless style
As autumn turns to winter, Oceania Sonata will chart a westward course, crossing the Atlantic from Europe to the Americas.
A 14-day transatlantic journey from Barcelona to Miami includes stops in southern Spain, Madeira, and Bermuda. It is designed as both a crossing and a luxurious indulgence where all of the senses are tantalized—a voyage shaped by dining, enrichment, and ocean views.
Caribbean itineraries feature both popular ports and lesser-known destinations, from Barbados to Tortola. Further south, the ship will sail to Latin America, calling at destinations such as Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala and Zihuatanejo on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
One of the season’s most notable voyages departs. 19 December, 2027; a 16-day sojourn from Miami to Los Angeles, passing through the Panama Canal in daylight before continuing north along Central America and Mexico’s Pacific coast.

A luxury ship designed around indulgence and discovery
While the destinations may draw travelers aboard, Oceania Sonata is designed to be a destination of its own. Accommodating 1,390 guests, the ship will have 855 crew members focused on genuine, personalized service.
The emphasis on culinary offerings remains central, with one chef for every eight guests and a total of 13 diverse dining venues.
Among them is La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, a dining experience dedicated to preserving the heritage of French gastronomy from delicate apple and langoustine tartlets to escargot stuffed Dover sole topped with a white wine sauce. Signature creations, such as a spider crab potato roll crowned with caviar, display the exquisite luxury of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Nikkei Kitchen will be the first Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant at sea, pioneering new flavors through ancient Japanese techniques and fresh ingredients in a contemporary setting. Developed by Chef Gustavo Sugay, the menu celebrates both cultures while also embracing experimentation.
From lounges to cafés and expanded social spaces, the ship is designed to encourage connection. Guests can also take part in immersive onboard experiences, including expert-led culinary classes and enrichment programs.
The debut of Oceania Sonata is only the beginning. The company has confirmed plans for a fifth Sonata Class ship, to be built by Fincantieri and delivered in 2037, reflecting demand for this new generation of vessels. Together, they reflect a long-term investment in travel centered on space, sophistication, and exploration.

An invitation to see the world differently
As global travel continues to evolve, Oceania Cruises is positioning itself at the intersection of luxury and authenticity, offering journeys that aim to go beyond sightseeing and create lasting connections with destinations.
With its itineraries, port experiences, and onboard offerings, Oceania Sonata is not simply another cruise ship launch. It is presented as an invitation to slow down, explore more deeply, and rediscover the appeal of luxury travel at sea.
For travelers seeking a journey defined less by crowds and schedules than by comfort and discovery, the message is clear: the next great voyage may begin the moment they step aboard.
