TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation will launch a 5-day special service period from April 30 to May 4 to meet travel demand during the long Labor Day weekend.
During this period, an additional 61 train services will be added (27 southbound and 34 northbound), according to THSRC.
Tickets will be available for purchase from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday via the online booking system, partner convenience stores, the T-ex Mobile Ticketing app, or at station ticket counters and vending machines. Travelers are advised to collect their tickets in advance before departure to save time.
During busy periods, THSRC will provide more non-reserved seats on certain routes, especially for travel to and from areas north of Taichung. This applies to southbound trains on April 30 (4 p.m.–8 p.m.), May 3 (4 p.m.–9 p.m.), and May 4 (5 p.m.–7 p.m.), as well as northbound trains on May 3 (1 p.m.–10 p.m.).
THSRC said there would be some trains running between Nangang and Taichung and stopping at every station along the way. Each of these trains has nine cars with non-reserved seating. Passengers traveling to or from stations north of Taichung are encouraged to use these trains, it said.
