TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Daily passenger volume at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is projected to set a new record over the upcoming Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday.
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Vice President Yu Chung-li (余崇立) said passenger traffic during the holiday period is expected to exceed 920,000, per CNA. April 3 is forecast to be the peak for departures, with daily traffic reaching up to 162,000.
Yu said the holiday travel period will run from April 2 to April 7. It is expected to include about 4,590 takeoffs and landings and an average of roughly 155,000 passengers per day, up 12.1% from the same period in 2025.
He said April 3 will be the peak outbound travel day, while April 6 will see the highest inbound traffic at around 159,000 passengers. The projected peak daily passenger number is expected to surpass the previous record of 152,000 set in 2025, with a record total passenger volume also expected.
Yu advised travelers to arrive at the airport three hours early and make use of smart services such as online check-in and e-Gate automated immigration clearance.
He added that passenger traffic at Taoyuan Airport has continued to grow, reaching 10.01 million as of March 10, about eight days ahead of 2025 and seven days earlier than 2019. The steady growth in international air travel is expected to push total annual traffic to 49.18 million, another record high.
To help travelers better manage their time, the company has introduced an AI-powered system to monitor security flows at departure. Display boards at checkpoints show estimated clearance times using crowd indicators and color-coded lights.
Passengers can also check real-time security wait times via the airport’s official app.
