TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese chambers of commerce drive Taiwan’s global outreach, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said in a meeting with an Asian Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce Federation delegation on Monday.
The federation has united Taiwanese business communities across the region and helped establish stable economic and trade partnerships between Taiwan and other Asian countries over the years, Lai said, per the Presidential Office. He thanked the federation for its efforts in cultivating overseas markets and creating business opportunities.
Lai also thanked the federation for promoting exchanges and cooperation between overseas Taiwanese businesses and domestic industries.
The president said the government seeks to develop Taiwan into an “Asian asset management center,” to retain capital domestically while attracting more international funds and talent to support industrial development. The government is also promoting its “New Ten Major AI Construction Projects.”
Artificial intelligence should not be limited to large enterprises, Lai said. The government will help more than 1 million small and micro enterprises adopt AI to improve product yields and stabilize delivery schedules. This will allow Taiwan’s traditional industries to remain globally competitive, he said.
Lai said he hopes the federation will continue showcasing Taiwan’s progress and deepen economic cooperation between Taiwan and its global partners.
