TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council and the Taipei Representative Office in Denmark held their Taiwan Research Day in Copenhagen to promote cooperation in quantum technology, CNA reported Thursday.
Economic Daily News reported that the event focused on advanced quantum technologies and attracting experts from academia and industry. It marked Taiwan’s expansion of its research presence in Northern Europe and highlighted growing interest in cross-border innovation.
Held at the University of Copenhagen Panum Institute, the forum covered key areas including quantum computing, photonic chips, and quantum sensing. Speakers from academia and industry discussed development trends and potential applications in global competition in quantum technology.
Taiwan’s Denmark envoy Cheng Jung-chun (鄭榮俊) said the country has transformed from a labor-intensive economy into a leader in semiconductors and artificial intelligence. He added Taiwan is willing to share its manufacturing expertise with partners that share similar values, per UDN.
Cheng said Taiwan’s manufacturing strengths can complement Denmark’s advantages in research, design, and innovation. He said such exchanges could create more opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefit.
Participants said Taiwan’s semiconductor and optoelectronics sectors align well with Denmark’s quantum ecosystem. They said this complementarity could support future cooperation in research, talent exchange, and industrial development.
The representative office said the event highlighted collaboration across borders and sectors beyond traditional academic exchange. It added Taiwan aims to strengthen ties with European partners as quantum technology becomes a key area of global competition.
