TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Chi Nan University on Monday welcomed Belize Ambassador to Taiwan Katherine Vanessa Meighan, in a visit aimed at advancing bilateral educational cooperation and student mobility between the two countries.
The visit underscores the growing importance of Taiwan’s higher education in fostering global academic partnerships, particularly with diplomatic allies. Ambassador Meighan was received by NCNU President Wuu Dong-Sing (武東星), along with senior university officials, for discussions on expanding collaboration in talent cultivation and cross-border academic exchange.
During the visit, NCNU’s Office of International Affairs delivered a briefing on international admissions and academic opportunities, followed by an interactive session with international students. The presentation provided an overview of study opportunities, learning resources, and future career pathways available to overseas students.
Particular emphasis was placed on two flagship English-taught master’s programs: the Business Administration and Information Technology Innovation and Application Master’s Degree Program and the Intelligent Semiconductor and Green Technology Master’s Degree Program. These programs reflect NCNU’s strengths in international business management, digital innovation, and advanced technology development.
In addition, the university introduced its International Foundation Program (the 1+4 Program), the Mandarin Language Center, and interdisciplinary initiatives, such as smart agriculture, to integrate local strengths with emerging technologies. These academic pathways are designed to meet the varied educational needs and career aspirations of international students.
“NCNU is committed to building an inclusive and globally connected learning environment,” Wuu said. “We look forward to welcoming more outstanding students from Belize and strengthening long-term academic collaboration between our two nations.”
Ambassador Meighan expressed strong appreciation for NCNU’s internationalized campus environment and comprehensive support system for foreign students. She noted that she would promote the university’s academic programs and scholarship opportunities in Belize, encouraging students to pursue higher education in Taiwan and broaden their global perspectives.
The visit highlights the strong and enduring partnership between Taiwan and Belize and signals further opportunities for cooperation in higher education, talent development, and cultural exchange.
NCNU reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its global network and deepening engagement with allied nations, as it continues to cultivate internationally competitive, interdisciplinary talent in an increasingly interconnected world.
