TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Interbank services across Taiwan will be suspended for 50 minutes on Saturday afternoon as part of a financial system maintenance and cloud backup drill.
The Financial Information Service Co. (FISC) said the exercise will run from 2 p.m. to 2:50 p.m., during which all interbank transactions, including ATM cross-bank services, will be temporarily halted, per CNA. The public is advised to plan for the scheduled disruption.
The state-owned enterprise said the drill is designed to improve the quality and resilience of ATM interbank services while testing the effectiveness of its cloud backup systems. It is scheduled during off-peak hours to reduce inconvenience for users.
During the drill, interbank services will be suspended for system verification and testing, but services may resume earlier if procedures are completed ahead of schedule. The company said this allows flexibility while ensuring all necessary checks are conducted.
Three banks, Bank of Taiwan, Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank, and the Agricultural Bank of Taiwan, will also pause their own internal services as part of the live drill. Other financial institutions will continue their internal operations without interruption.
The public is advised to check announcements from their banks regarding ATM, online, and mobile banking services during the drill. FISC added that any force majeure or unexpected events requiring cancellation or emergency measures will be announced through financial institutions and its website.
