TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan City Government said Tuesday it will debut a pavilion at a major UK food exhibition to promote its agricultural and fishery products overseas.
The city government said it will join the International Food & Drink Event in London from March 30 to April 1, marking its first appearance at the show. Officials said the move aims to expand access to European markets and increase global visibility for local products.
The city plans to showcase items such as milkfish, frozen fruits and juices, dried vegetables, and processed foods tailored to European tastes. Officials hope the exhibition will provide business opportunities and help local producers connect with international buyers.
“Tainan has strong agricultural resources and has worked to upgrade its industries and expand exports in recent years,” said Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲). He added that participation in global trade shows is part of a broader strategy to strengthen competitiveness and build overseas sales channels.
Officials noted that Tainan exporters have already secured deals in markets such as Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, and Singapore. They said entering the UK exhibition represents a key step toward deeper European engagement.
