TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The agriculture ministry said Friday that Taiwan secured NT$750 million (US$23.46 million) in orchid export orders at the Taiwan International Orchid Show in Tainan, a 3% increase from last year.
CNA reported that more than 300,000 people visited the exhibition. During the event, 32 buyers from 20 countries met with 37 Taiwanese orchid growers for 224 business meetings.
The show also featured over 90 booths at a flower market that drew strong public interest. On-site flower sales reached NT$13.97 million, while local agricultural products generated about NT$9 million, per Economic Daily News.
The ministry said the exhibition highlighted Taiwan’s strengths in breeding, smart agriculture, and flower technology. A major attraction included more than 100,000 orchids displayed with digital technology to create an immersive experience.
Officials said leftover healthy potted plants from the show will be donated to public institutions and schools. Nearly 25,000 plants will be redistributed to 75 organizations to support sustainability and community use.
