TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hotai Development, distributor for Japan’s air conditioner maker Daikin Industries, opened a logistics center in Taoyuan’s Shalun Industrial Park on Wednesday to boost the supply chain in northern Taiwan.
Hotai Development Chair Antonio Su (蘇一仲) said the Taoyuan center will boost storage and distribution capacity. The company spent over NT$2 billion (US$65.6 million) to build the three-story facility, with a total floor area of 5,161 ping (17,064 square meters), near Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, per CNA.
Su noted the center uses smart logistics and energy-saving technologies, including solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and water recycling systems. It integrates storage, distribution, and vehicle maintenance operations. The facility also features green building design to help reduce carbon emissions.
At the center’s opening ceremony, Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng (張善政) thanked the company for bringing operations and jobs to the city. He said the city government will support the firm’s plan to build a storage facility for air-conditioning components in Taoyuan.
The company added it will continue expanding as its business grows. A second logistics facility under construction in Yilan, costing NT$350 million, is expected to be completed next year.
Hotai Development has distributed Daikin products for more than 30 years, including residential and industrial chillers as well as air conditioners. Daikin has also partnered with the company to manufacture some air-conditioning equipment in Taiwan.
In 2022, Hotai Development opened an exhibition space in Taoyuan featuring Daikin’s residential and industrial air-conditioning products. The facility also displays key internal components.
Shalun Industrial Park covers 28.44 hectares and hosts warehousing, AI technology, and green energy industries. The park features solar power, smart grids, and air and water monitoring systems, creating an eco-friendly and intelligently managed environment.
