TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan has enough fertilizer raw materials on hand and en route to maintain supply for roughly six to eight months despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Agriculture Minister Chen Jun-ji (陳駿季) said Taiwan Fertilizer’s reserves, combined with shipments already headed to the country, should cover demand through at least August, with some materials lasting longer, per CNA.
He said supply channels extend beyond the Middle East, with imports also coming from Southeast Asia and Australia, reducing exposure to disruption in any single region.
Among key inputs, potash stocks are projected to last until October, while phosphate rock could remain available through December.
The issue has drawn attention from farmers worried that prolonged instability could affect access to fertilizer inputs.
