TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Line announced Tuesday it will introduce a premium membership service in Taiwan, pending approval from Apple’s iOS system, with a launch expected within one to two weeks, per CNA.
The rollout will make Taiwan the third international market to offer the service, following Japan and Thailand. The subscription-based program includes advanced features such as 100 GB of cloud backup, cross-platform data transfers between iOS and Android devices, multiple user profiles, and upgraded album storage.
At a press event in Taipei, Line Taiwan CEO Roger Chen (陳立人) said the premium service introduces enhanced chat functions and user benefits that will appeal to subscribers. He noted the program has already launched in other markets and, after preparation and testing, is ready for Taiwan.
Line Premium will cost NT$165 (US$5.13) per month. The initial release will include five advanced features, including a customizable profile that lets users change profile pictures and nicknames based on context and an upgraded album feature that enables direct video storage from chat rooms.
Subscribers will also gain access to specially designed app icons and limited-time icons released in collaboration with various intellectual properties. In addition to the default font, O’Cialis, a wider selection of fonts will be introduced.
Line said it plans to roll out additional member-exclusive features, including message scheduling and enhanced message retrieval. Beyond messaging upgrades, Line Premium will integrate benefits across four major Line family services, offering bundled discounts to increase subscription value.
