TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s three main airlines have raised their booking service charges for travelers, reports said Saturday.
EVA Air was the first to introduce an increase to NT$900 (US$28) from NT$800 on March 1, per CNA. China Airlines is following suit with the same new rate on March 17.
Starlux Airlines will only start implementing the hike from April 1, but its fee will be the highest of the three carriers at NT$965, an increase of NT$160. The booking service is offered through Global Distribution Systems, with the charges part of the ticket price paid by passengers.
Tigerair Taiwan, the low-cost airline operated by China Airlines, is the only major carrier in Taiwan not considering an increase for booking service fees for the time being. During the high season, the airline charged NT$400 per passenger per flight segment, while for the low season, it set the fee at NT$300.
