TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chiayi Christian Hospital recently dispatched a medical mission team to rural areas in the central Philippines to provide free medical services.
The team conducted free clinics in two rural communities in Negros Oriental Province from last Wednesday to Monday, per CNA. The team included specialists in traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and dentistry. They provided services such as internal medicine consultations, dental treatment, Chinese medicine therapies, and health counseling.
Chen Chun-ho (陳俊和), the hospital’s director of international affairs, said the team saw over 600 patient visits during a two-day free clinic. The team also gave local communities the opportunity to feel the care and support of the international community, Chen said.
The team donated an electrosurgical unit to Bais Hospital, to help medical staff perform more efficient bleeding control and tissue treatment during surgical procedures. The hospital said the equipment will help enhance surgical safety and treatment efficiency.
Chen said the Chiayi Christian Hospital team will continue to uphold the hospital’s mission and align with government policies to promote international medical outreach, and show that “Taiwan can help.”
