TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan Robotics Education Alliance led four high school robotics teams to participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge competition held in Lithuania from March 7-8.
The event was divided into two categories: an official competition for teams seeking qualification for the world championship, and a non-official competition, per CNA. Each category included 20 teams.
The four Taiwanese teams competed in the official competition, but did not compete with Lithuanian and Ukrainian teams for qualification spots in the world championship. After two days of intense competition, the Taiwanese teams placed second in the finals and won awards, including a design award and a control award.
The Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania arranged for the Taiwanese teams to visit the SOS Children’s Villages center in Vilnius the day before the competition, to promote STEM education. Students shared their experiences about learning robotics technology and explained the principles behind their competition robots.
The representative office said this is the second time it has assisted Taiwanese teams in traveling to Lithuania for the robotics competition.
