TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Coast Guard Anping-class patrol vessels participated in naval drills last year, the defense ministry revealed in a report shared during a legislative session on Friday.
The Navy Command said the Coast Guard Administration is responsible for conducting security patrols around key ports and carrying out maritime reconnaissance during wartime, per CNA. It is also expected to conduct emergency rescue and supply missions and work with the Navy to establish maritime control in support of military operations.
According to the report, Anping-class vessels have carried out joint operations training, combat readiness preparations, and logistics preparations. The ship’s design is based on the Navy’s Tuo Chiang-class corvette, and it can be outfitted with missile launchers during wartime.
The CGA dispatched seven Anping-class vessels to participate in the Navy’s 2025 joint operational exercises. One of the ships launched two Hsiung Feng II missiles.
The Navy Command said that to ensure CGA vessels can rapidly carry out combat missions, they participate in the Navy’s annual intensive training programs and military drills such as the Hai Chiang and Han Kuang exercises. These activities are intended to enhance operational interoperability between the Navy and Coast Guard.
