TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Yilan County is promoting agricultural and fishery products at an event at Eslite Spectrum Nihonbashi in Tokyo.
The “surf and turf” campaign runs from March 8 to April 7 and showcases specialties from the Lanyang Plain and the Yilan coastline, CNA reported. The featured products emphasize small packaged processed foods designed to be lightweight and easy to purchase, catering to the consumption habits of urban Japanese consumers who value quality, safety, and product origin.
Products include kumquat sparkling honey wine, bean and rice snacks, sweet guava jelly, jasmine black tea, Lanyang rice, kumquat walnut cake, Luodong unsweetened soy milk, scallion soda crackers, whitebait rice crisps, and shrimp crackers.
The retail partnership is operated by Yurindo, a Japanese bookstore and lifestyle retail chain that runs more than 40 stores in Tokyo and Kanagawa and is known for its strict product selection standards. Yurindo President Kentaro Matsunobu said he has visited Taiwan many times and has also traveled to Yilan, leaving him with a strong impression of the area’s natural environment and warm hospitality.
The event aims to highlight Yilan’s natural environment, the stories behind its agricultural products, and the dedication of local producers to Japanese consumers. “I believe this event will help more Japanese people discover the flavors of Yilan,” he said.
