TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Czech Senate on Wednesday passed a resolution supporting Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations and rejecting China’s misinterpretation of UN Resolution 2758.
The measure adds that the resolution does not grant China sovereignty over Taiwan, restrict third countries from developing relations, or give Beijing the right to threaten Taipei with force.
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) on Friday expressed sincere gratitude to the Czech Senate for once again showing concrete support for Taiwan, according to the foreign ministry.
The resolution highlights the Czech Senate’s 30-year commitment to developing mutually beneficial relations with Taiwan. It recognizes Senate President Milos Vystrcil’s visit to Taiwan in 2020 and hopes that both countries will continue to strengthen cooperation in research and development, innovation, startups, microchips, advanced technologies, and security.
This pro-Taiwan resolution was proposed by Pavel Fischer, chair of the Czech Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and co-chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, and received cross-party support from senators. This marks the Czech Senate’s second pro-Taiwan resolution with a similar focus, following a resolution passed in April 2025.
The foreign ministry pledged that Taiwan will continue to deepen cooperation with like-minded partners such as the Czech Republic.
