TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The first Emirates flight from Dubai to Taiwan since the outbreak of the recent conflict in the Middle East landed Wednesday afternoon.
On Feb. 28, the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran, which retaliated against several Gulf countries, per CNA. Several countries have since closed their airspace.
Emirates on Tuesday announced that due to regional airspace closures, all scheduled flights to and from Dubai would remain suspended until 11:59 p.m. UAE time on March 4. The airline said it will operate limited passenger and cargo flights on March 3 and 4.
Passengers with earlier bookings will be prioritized. Travelers are advised to ensure they have received direct notification from Emirates or have confirmed seats on these limited flights before going to the airport.
The escalation of conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran has caused widespread flight disruptions. After a limited resumption of flights in the UAE, some passengers were able to depart, including those on the first Emirates flight from Dubai to Taiwan.
According to Emirates’ website, flight EK366 departed Dubai at 3:51 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 at approximately 4:06 p.m. Its status as of publication was that it had arrived at its gate.
According to the Taoyuan Airport website, Etihad Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and Taiwan remained canceled Wednesday, with two flights affected. Etihad said flights scheduled before 6 p.m. Taiwan time on March 5 are canceled, while departures later that evening are still uncertain.
