TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski highlighted Poland’s interest in technological cooperation with Taiwan during a policy presentation last Thursday.
While a war is being waged near Poland’s borders, it would be a mistake for the country to focus only on its immediate surroundings and neglect partners farther away, Sikorski said, per a Taiwan foreign ministry press release.
Poland has consistently maintained interest in technological cooperation with partners in Taiwan, he said. It is also strengthening strategic partnerships with South Korea and Japan, as well as security consultation dialogues with Australia and New Zealand.
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) welcomed Poland’s attention to the Indo-Pacific region and specifically Taiwan. Poland and Taiwan share universal values such as democracy, freedom and the rule of law, the foreign ministry said.
In recent years, the two countries have developed close cooperation in trade and investment and the biotechnology and medical sectors, according to the ministry. There have also been exchanges in semiconductor production, cybersecurity, and pandemic prevention.
Poland was Taiwan’s largest overseas buyer of drones in 2025, accounting for nearly 60% of exports. The country seeks suppliers capable of rapid, large-scale delivery without major political complications.
Taiwanese drones have met those requirements, gaining a reputation for reliability and affordability. Their use by Ukrainian forces has further bolstered confidence among European militaries monitoring the conflict.
