TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Taiwan Tourism Administration delegation held a promotional event in Paris on Monday to introduce Taiwan’s attractions to French tourism industry representatives.
The event was a continuation of the “Waves of Wonder 3.0” campaign centered on the theme “Taiwan 100 Ways,” CNA reported. About 40 French travel industry professionals were briefed on Taiwan’s tourism highlights, experiences, and initiatives to seek partnerships.
Taiwan’s representative to France, Hao Pei-chih (郝培芝), said Taiwan blends tradition and modernity. Travelers can go from mountains to beaches and from historic districts to modern cities within just a few hours. Hao said Taiwan is suitable for travel year-round and is a safe place to explore.
According to the Tourism Administration, 53,818 French travelers visited Taiwan in 2025. Of these, 24,632 traveled for tourism purposes, with tourism arrivals exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels.
Hsieh Chang-ming (謝長明), director of the Tourism Administration’s Frankfurt office, said Taiwan is known for its high-tech industry and its tourism resources, including numerous mountains and hiking routes. He noted that since the pandemic, digital marketing and social media influence have grown significantly. Short videos posted on Facebook and Instagram have garnered high numbers of likes and shares.
Isabelle Gilquin, tourism affairs director at French PR firm Aviareps, echoed Hsieh, saying influencer and media coverage have increased awareness of destinations in Taiwan. “Taipei is now very well known, but we also promote Alishan and Tainan,” Gilquin said. “Influencers who visit really love them, and their posts receive 100,000 to 200,000 likes,” she said, adding that media coverage has increased substantially.
Gilquin described Taiwan as “an ideal destination in Asia for French travelers.”
