TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Global Mall, a subsidiary of Kindom Development, reported nearly NT$3 billion (US$100 million) in revenue last year at its Banqiao Station store, mainly driven by dining demand from commuters.
The company reported that its Banqiao store has posted double-digit growth for three straight years. Food and beverage outlets make up 70% of the store, with most B1 shops offering takeaway, helping boost sales, per CNA.
The company said it renovated the store’s second floor last year, adding more fashion and lifestyle shops. Since opening a large Muji store there in 2024, spending from nearby residents has increased, making the store one of the top performers in Greater Taipei.
To boost sales, the company hosts monthly themed events and pop-up stores. The Banqiao store also offers a bakery class, ID photo services, hair salons, and massage shops, aiming to attract a broader range of customers.
Additionally, Global Mall has locations at Xinzuoying Station and Nangang Station. In December, the company won the bid to manage the new shopping complex at Kaohsiung Station. The development will feature 10 above-ground floors and three underground levels, with an expected opening in 2028.
Taiwan Railway opened bidding in December for the mall at Taipei Main Station, whose current operator, Breeze Development Co., has a contract ending in July. Companies competing include President Chain Store Corp., Eastern Home Shopping & Leisure Co., Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, and Kindom Development.
The mall generates more than NT$2.6 billion in annual revenue and covers over 3,000 ping (about 9,900 square meters). With its heavy foot traffic, Kindom Development hopes to boost its revenue by winning the bid.
The company added that it will build a 43-story complex in Taichung’s Xitun District, near Taichung City Hall MRT Station. The project, which will include retail spaces and accommodations, is being developed jointly with Hyatt Hotels and is set to open in 2030.
