TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport said Wednesday it expected daily passenger traffic to surpass 140,000 during the 228 Peace Memorial Day long weekend.
Projections predicted daily passenger traffic to average about 147,000, according to an airport press release. The outbound peak is expected on Thursday, with approximately 153,000 passengers, while the inbound peak is forecast for Monday, at around 149,000 passengers.
The airport said that during peak hours, crowds may gather at departure and arrival areas, and long queues may form at check-in counters and other areas. Processing large volumes of luggage during peak times will also require time to clear. The airport advised passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before departure.
The airport said that from Feb. 13-23, total passenger traffic reached approximately 1.7 million, with a daily average of about 155,000 passengers, representing a 5.8% increase compared with the same period last year. On the peak day during the Lunar New Year holiday, single-day traffic reached 169,000 passengers, it said.
