TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Gogoro on Wednesday predicted double-digit year-on-year growth in electric scooter sales, with this year’s sales target expected to exceed 30,000 vehicles, per CNA.
Gogoro CEO Henry Chiang (姜家煒) said sales will be boosted by three new models this year, with an additional new model set to debut in Vietnam in the fourth quarter. The company will also add more than 100 domestic battery-swapping stations and invest NT$1 billion (US$32 million) in capital expenditure as first-generation batteries are completely retired.
Chiang said the Q battery-swapping station will also be launched this year, with a small-scale domestic pilot program planned for December. It will be formally introduced to the Vietnamese market in 2027.
Gogoro held a media reception on Wednesday, noting that Taiwan’s two-wheeler market was affected by tariff uncertainties last year. Annual registrations reached a 10-year low.
Regarding Gogoro’s performance, Chiang said the company focused on its vehicle and energy businesses last year.
Gogoro’s operating cash flow last year was US$31.1 million, a 216% increase compared to 2024, while its net loss narrowed 34% year-on-year to US$80.8 million, reflecting an improved operational structure.
Looking ahead to 2028, Chiang reiterated that Gogoro’s goal this year is to achieve break-even in its energy business, continue progress toward generating free cash flow from energy services by 2027, and achieve break-even in its vehicle business by 2028.
Chiang said Gogoro replaced 50,000 older-generation batteries a month in 2025, doubling the figure from 2024. The company also implemented a management system for battery-swapping stations last year to improve customer satisfaction at high-load sites, resulting in a 26% increase in satisfaction over the past two years.
In overseas markets, Chiang said Gogoro continues to focus on Vietnam. It said this market is undergoing rapid industrial transformation as traditional charging methods for electric vehicles are insufficient to meet demand.
He added that Gogoro partnered with lubricant maker Castrol in 2025. Castrol provided local sales and operational services in Vietnam, while Gogoro provided electric scooter design and technology.
Gogoro plans to add 24 battery-swapping stations in Ho Chi Minh City in the second quarter and launch a pilot program for its commercial vehicle fleet, with new models expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter.
