TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Yilan County experienced a magnitude 5.6 earthquake at 12:37 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter was located 16.9 kilometers east-southeast of Yilan County Hall at a depth of 66.8 kilometers, the CWA said. Taiwan uses a scale of 1 to 7 to measure a quake's intensity at a specific location.
The quake registered a 4 in Yilan County. An intensity level of 3 was recorded in Hualien County, New Taipei, Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Taichung, Hsinchu, and Miaoli County.
An intensity level of 2 was reported in Nantou County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi, and Tainan. An intensity level of 1 was measured in Keelung and Taitung County.
