TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Penghu County Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu (陳光復) regained consciousness and a stable heartbeat Tuesday after falling down a flight of stairs.
After delivering remarks, Chen fell down stairs near a stage at the Penghu Cultural Affairs Bureau. He lost consciousness and showed no heartbeat or breathing afterward, according to LTN.
On-site CPR was administered and Chen was rushed to Penghu Tri-Service General Hospital.
His heartbeat was later restored. He is expected to be transferred to Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital.
Chen earlier visited a temple commercial district in Magong to greet vendors and worshippers for the Lunar New Year. He also distributed red envelopes and gift bags and checked on tourism crowds and local safety, according to CNA.
