TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) visited several temples Tuesday, handing out lucky bags and offering Lunar New Year greetings to the public in Taichung, Nantou County, and Changhua County.
Hsiao began at Nantian Temple in Wufeng, Taichung, arriving at 9 a.m. with DPP Legislator Ho Hsin-chun (何欣純) and other officials, per CNA. Many people lined up early, including elders in wheelchairs and parents with strollers.
After 30 minutes, Hsiao and her team distributed more than 1,000 lucky bags. She bent down to greet children and those with limited mobility, wishing each recipient a happy new year.
Hsiao then visited Yonghe Temple in Caotun, Nantou County, accompanied by DPP Nantou magistrate candidate Wen Shih-cheng (温世政). She offered prayers for national peace and prosperity while distributing lucky bags to local residents.
Next, Hsiao went to Wutong Temple in Dacun, Changhua County, with DPP Changhua magistrate candidate Chen Su-yueh (陳素月), offering prayers and more lucky bags. The visits highlighted community engagement and support for local DPP candidates.
