TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A new Costco in Kaohsiung is preparing to open as early as June, according to the company’s social media.
Earlier this week, the store installed the well-known red Costco sign on the building’s exterior to signal the store’s progress towards opening, reported UDN. The new store’s location is in Kaohsiung’s Qianzhen District in the Asia New Bay Area.
The store’s opening will coincide with the closure of the Costco on Zhonghua 5th Road, which has served customers for 28 years. The new, larger structure covers 48,280 square meters and is completely above ground, with four levels.
The store boast the highest number of parking spots of any Costco location in Taiwan, with over 1,000 spaces for cars and 400 for scooters and motorcycles. Parking areas will be located on the third and fourth floor as well as the roof, per UDN.
The Costco will next to the Southeast Mile Plaza, a new retail shopping area under development.
This year is set to be a busy one for Costco in Taiwan as company prepares to open its third Costco in Taichung. The company is reportedly considering several more locations in central Taiwan based on the region’s growth.
