TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A post-pandemic record number of 161,000 passengers passed through Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Thursday, according to the company managing the airport.
The increase in traffic came just days before the start of the Feb. 14-22 Lunar New Year holiday, the busiest period of the year for travel in and out of Taiwan. Taoyuan International Airport Corporation said it had taken all necessary measures to prepare for the holidays, per CNA.
The 161,000 passengers recorded Thursday amounted to an increase of 10% over the 159,000 reported on Wednesday. The amount of luggage increased by a similar figure, the company said.
Friday is likely to see 159,000 travelers, the same as the highest single-day figure reported for 2025. The company advised passengers to allow sufficient time for check-in, passport controls, security checks, and luggage pickup for arriving travelers.
Airlines and ground operations are raising staffing levels, while the airport has also set up an electronic notice board telling outbound travelers how much time it would take to pass through security.
