TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Canadian singer-songwriter Jeff Bryant has called the Taipei metro the best in the world after sharing his travel experiences in Taiwan in a Youtube video.
Bryant said he has used transit systems around the world but the Taipei MRT impressed him most. The system won him over with its clear signs, smart layout, and clean stations, Liberty Times reported.
He said he bought an Easycard for NT$100 (US$3.13) and used it to ride the metro and buses and pay at shops, per UDN. He described the station design and maps as easy to follow, even for first-time visitors.
Unlike some cities such as New York, Bryant noted that Taipei metro stations provide trash bins and public restrooms that are “extremely clean,” reported TVBS. He also praised Taiwan passengers for lining up behind platform markings and waiting for others to get off before boarding
Bryant said he tested the system during a Friday evening rush hour, traveling from Taipei Main Station to Taipei City Hall Station. Although he recorded with a microphone, he said he did not disturb other passengers, per FTV News.
“The video may look like an advertisement for the metro company,” Bryant said, but he stressed that his praise was sincere.
