TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Meteorologist Wu De-rong (吳德榮) said Taiwan will see warm weather through Sunday before a northeast monsoon brings rain and cooler weather to the north and east starting Monday afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to rise to nearly 30 C in many areas on Friday. However, Wu warned that strong radiative cooling will result in large gaps between daytime highs and nighttime lows, CNA reported.
The Central Weather Administration issued a low temperature advisory early Friday morning. The agency recorded a low of 9.4 C in Guanxi Township in Hsinchu County.
A northeast monsoon is forecast to move southward on Monday afternoon, bringing brief showers to northern and eastern Taiwan. Northern Taiwan will turn cooler, while other regions remain partly cloudy with limited impact.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the monsoon will continue to affect areas north of Taoyuan and the east, where brief showers are possible, Wu said. Central and southern Taiwan are expected to remain mostly cloudy to sunny.
Moisture will decrease on Wednesday afternoon, and rain in the north will gradually ease, he added. By Thursday, the monsoon will weaken, and temperatures will rise, although eastern areas may still see isolated showers.
From Friday to Feb. 22, easterly winds will bring partly cloudy skies nationwide, according to Wu. Temperatures will rise gradually, with warm days and cool mornings and evenings.
