TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Topco Scientific Co. secured a contract to build the sewage system at an industrial park in New Taipei’s Linkou District, CNA reported.
The industrial park, completed in 2023, is upgrading its facilities as companies build factories and offices. Global semiconductor supplier ASML is constructing a new factory at the site, which is expected to be completed this year.
The city government said the park will support New Taipei’s AI sector development and the transformation of traditional industries. Foxconn, Gigabyte Technology, and Aaeon Technology are among the companies moving in.
At a press conference on Thursday, Topco Vice Chair Lai Shan-kuei (賴杉桂) said the project is scheduled for completion in 2029. The company said it will build a complete sewage treatment system with a daily capacity of 4,700 cubic meters to manage wastewater generated by electronics, metal, and machinery makers in the park.
Topco said the system will include nitrogen-removal technology, as well as a management center and facilities to treat waste solids, ensuring treated wastewater meets discharge standards. The treatment facilities will be housed indoors, and parts of the park’s grounds will be landscaped with plants.
Lai highlighted the company’s expertise in wastewater treatment projects, including the water recycling center built in Taoyuan’s Guishan District. The facility treats wastewater and turns it into reclaimed water, helping supply semiconductor factories in the HwaYa Technology Park.
Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) said the city government will invest NT$900 million (US$30.6 million) in constructing the sewage system. He said many tech companies consider wastewater and waste management facilities a key factor when moving into industrial parks, making the system critical for attracting businesses.
