TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s listed companies posted a combined NT$4.3 trillion (US$136.8 billion) in revenue for January, excluding financial and insurance firms, the Taiwan Stock Exchange said Wednesday.
The figure is a 30.71% increase compared with the same period last year. Among the companies, 695 reported revenue growth, while 340 saw declines, according to CNA.
Industries with the largest revenue growth included construction and building materials. Domestic artificial intelligence industry demand has driven more tech-related office and factory construction projects, according to CTEE.
Orders for high-capacity, high-end projects at higher average prices are increasing. Goldsun Building Materials, for instance, reported that tech-related projects now account for 30% of its order backlog and expects significant growth potential for the year.
The electronics distribution sector also saw strong activity, supported by AI server and next-generation memory demand. Sales of computers and peripheral equipment were similarly boosted by AI server orders.
Industries experiencing the largest revenue declines included sports and leisure, affected by the traditional slow season and weak market demand. Shipping revenue fell on slower market conditions and declining freight rates, while tourism and hospitality revenues were lower than last year, influenced by the timing of the Lunar New Year holiday.
