TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The first express trains to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport will leave Taipei Rail Station each morning at 5 a.m. during the Feb. 12-22 period, reports said Saturday.
The new schedule will be implemented to meet an expected surge in demand during the Lunar New Year holiday, per CNA. The journey from Taipei to Terminal 2 at the airport should take about 41 minutes.
In-town check-in services will be available from 4:30 a.m., according to Taoyuan Metro Corporation. The company experimented with a 5 a.m. early departure time during last year’s Lunar New Year holiday before setting 5:30 a.m. as the new time.
This year’s early express trains will stop at New Taipei Industrial Park Station, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Station, Terminal 1, and Terminal 2. Taipei Rail Station and New Taipei Industrial Park Station will open their doors to passengers at 4:30 a.m., with the three other stations opening at 5 a.m.
Taoyuan Metro Corporation said that it had also completed safety simulation training Saturday. The service is ready to prevent and respond to security incidents during the holiday period in coordination with other departments, the company said.
During last year’s Lunar New Year holidays, an average of 110 passengers per day boarded the extra 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. trains from Taipei Rail Station.
