TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration on Friday issued a cold surge advisory as temperatures are expected to drop to around 10 C or below in seven cities, including Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung.
The CWA forecast that from Saturday through Monday, temperatures will steadily fall due to the cold wave, per CNA. The coldest period is expected between Sunday evening and early Monday morning, with the possibility of snowfall in the north and mountainous areas of Yilan above 1,500 meters.
The bureau issued the advisory near noon. From Saturday afternoon through Sunday, New Taipei, Keelung, Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Yilan County, and Kinmen County are under an orange alert, with temperatures potentially staying around 10 C or lower.
Hsinchu, Miaoli County, Taichung, and Hualien County are under a yellow alert, with cold mornings and evenings and a chance of temperatures dipping below 10 C even in lowland areas.
