TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Zoo said it will join the international “Reverse the Red Day” on Saturday, hosting educational activities and guided tours to raise awareness about endangered species, per a press release.
As part of its effort support endangered species, the zoo said it is integrating programs inside and outside the park to reverse species decline. These programs, for example, include specialized care for Formosan pangolins, operating shelters for the rescue and rehabilitation of injured pangolins, and actively participating in their breeding, nursing, and reintroduction into the wild.
The zoo said pangolins released into the wild are tracked and monitored through field assessments to support their return to natural habitats and help improve their conservation status.
Taipei Zoo has also participated in pangolin exchanges with international zoos through the Pangolin Extraterritorial Conservation Plan established by the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums in 2024, it said.

On Saturday, the zoo will hold special educational and promotional events in conjunction with Reverse the Red Day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in front of the Education Center, with additional sessions at the same times on Tuesday. Special guided tours will also be offered to help visitors better understand global endangered species and the conservation of native wildlife.
The zoo said the activities will serve as a warm-up for World Pangolin Day on Feb. 21 and encouraged the public to take action in daily life to help reverse the trend of species endangerment.
Other Reverse the Red Day activities will also be held at the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, Hsinchu Zoo, Leofoo Village, Wanpi World, Farglory Ocean Park, XPARK, and Yehliu Ocean World, where visitors can learn about conservation efforts and the stories of endangered species.
