TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Far EasTone Telecommunications said Wednesday it joined Mercedes-Benz’s EV charging network, signaling Taiwan telecoms’ growing push into charging services.
Far EasTone said it has joined Mercedes-Benz Pass, allowing EV owners to locate and use its charging stations, per CNA. The app integrates station search, charging activation, and payment into one platform.
Far EasTone said its charging network has been deployed at its department stores. It is also expanding into public parking and university campuses to improve access and support low-carbon transport goals.
Other telecom operators are also investing in EV charging. Taiwan Mobile said it has invested nearly NT$1 billion (US$31.7 million), with its MyCharge network covering more than 100 locations and 550 charging points by the end of last year.
Taiwan Mobile is expanding through nationwide MyCharge deployment and a partnership with Line Go. It has also entered home energy storage after securing Tesla Powerwall installation certification and is expanding overseas through its subsidiary Uspace.
