TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — After concluding his five-day visit, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) on Monday said his firm will expand its operations in Taiwan, citing the rapid growth of its supply chain and the need to recruit more domestic engineers.
Asked whether Nvidia plans to open a headquarters in Kaohsiung, Huang said it already has offices in Kaohsiung, but that the main office should be located where its engineers are concentrated, per CNA. “Most of our engineers are here in Taipei, and we're hiring a lot of engineers here because our supply chain is growing very large," he said.
Huang said that Nvidia has expanded beyond GPUs to produce CPUs, networking chips, switches, and other complex products. With more products and a larger supply chain, the company will need additional engineers in Taiwan.
He praised Taiwan’s technical expertise, saying local employees are talented, hardworking, and tend to stay with Nvidia for a long time. Huang added that the company plans to establish a major site in Taiwan and hopes to expand it further.
On his next visit to Taiwan, Huang said he would show the media the design of Nvidia’s new building. He did not disclose the structure's details, describing it as “incredibly beautiful, you've never seen anything like it,” and promised to return soon to present it.
Huang said Nvidia will hold a major keynote at this year’s Computex, where many announcements will be made. He added that the company’s partners will also release major news, making this year’s event particularly exciting.
He was also pleased to see how well Nvidia's Taiwanese partners performed last year. He thanked them for their support and expressed confidence that the Year of the Horse would be a “very good year.”
Since arriving in Taiwan on Thursday, Huang maintained a packed schedule. He visited TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀) on Thursday, attended Nvidia Taiwan’s year-end banquet on Friday, hosted a dinner for supply chain partners on Saturday, and met with TSMC Chair and CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家) and other executives on Sunday.
