TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) on Friday responded to reports that his firm is planning a second headquarters in Taiwan, saying it is a “possibility” given his company's rapidly expanding operations in the country.
UDN earlier reported that, in addition to building a new Taiwan headquarters in the Beitou–Shilin Technology Park, Nvidia may later add a second headquarters in Taipei. The Zhoumei area of Beitou District was identified as the potential location.
Nvidia's workforce in Taiwan is currently concentrated at its Nangang office, with some employees based in Hsinchu. The company is reportedly considering a second phase of expansion at its Taiwan headquarters on land near Beitou-Shilin Technology Park.
When the development of the T17 and T18 sites at the tech park previously stalled, the Taipei City Government considered alternative locations. This included the planned Zhoumei Elementary School site, which is now seen as a potential candidate for a second Nvidia headquarters.
The plot set aside for the school lies to the west of the tech park and covers 4.6 hectares. It was originally designated for an international badminton arena.
When asked to comment on the reports of a second headquarters, Huang said, “Sounds good, I like it. We should have as many as possible.” per mnews. He pointed out that his firm already has many employees, supply chain partners, and customers in Taiwan.
He said the scale of the company’s operations in Taiwan is expanding rapidly. He commended the hard work of his Taiwan employees and stressed that "there are so many good people here, so I'm very happy to build here.”
